From Fine Art to Fashion: The Story of Fruzsina Keehn

An Eye Formed by Art

For Fruzsina Keehn, fashion did not begin with a trend forecast or a passing idea. It began with a lifelong study of beauty: how objects are made, how proportions create harmony, and how the finest details can transform something useful into something lasting.

Born in New York and educated in London, Fruzsina studied fine art and decorative art at The American College in London. She later completed Sotheby’s yearlong Styles in Art course, specializing in decorative art from the 17th through the 20th centuries. Her education continued with an in-depth study of the Modern Masters at Christie’s London and a Sotheby’s course in the History of Fine Jewelry.

Together, these experiences gave her more than a knowledge of periods and movements. They developed a way of seeing. Material, line, balance, workmanship, and historical reference became part of the visual language she would carry into every chapter of her career.

A Jewelry House Founded in Geneva

In 1998, Fruzsina founded Fruzsina Keehn Fine Jewelry in Geneva, Switzerland. The collection became known for elegant, vintage-inspired pieces that recalled the glamour of Old Hollywood and the storied style of Paris, New York, and Palm Beach.

Her jewelry was never designed simply to follow fashion. Each piece was conceived with a sense of history and individuality, bringing the romance of another era into a modern wardrobe. That same tension between past and present would later become central to Keehn Atelier.

Lessons in Interiors

After returning to New York, Fruzsina worked as an assistant to three noted interior designers: Mark Zeff, Jeff Lincoln, and Alex Papachristidis. The world of interiors offered another perspective on living with beauty. Rooms, like clothing, depend on proportion, texture, color, and the careful relationship between the whole and its smallest details.

Working within that discipline deepened her appreciation for objects and environments that feel collected rather than manufactured. It also reinforced an idea that continues to shape her work today: refinement is not about excess. It comes from editing well, choosing carefully, and allowing quality to speak for itself.

The Idea That Became Keehn Atelier

While living in Los Angeles, Fruzsina recognized what she felt was missing from the modern wardrobe. She saw a need for beautifully made clothing that felt timeless and classic, yet still carried an unexpected point of view.

Women were often asked to choose between trend-driven fashion and pieces so traditional that they lacked personality. She envisioned another possibility.

In 2018, she co-founded Keehn Deutch, a company she operated with a friend through 2022. The experience helped bring her vision for clothing into sharper focus. She wanted to create garments with the presence of treasured vintage pieces, the ease required for contemporary life, and construction beautiful enough to be appreciated from the inside out.

The Opening of the Atelier

Keehn Atelier opened in 2024 with Fall-Winter and Spring-Summer collections designed to live beyond a single season. The name Atelier reflects the spirit of the company: a place where garments are considered individually, where details matter, and where the client is part of the process.

Each piece is made to order in natural fabrics, with opportunities to select colors, fabrics, lengths, and certain fit modifications. Distinctive contrast seams and carefully finished interiors express one of Fruzsina’s most important design principles: the inside of a garment should be every bit as beautiful as the outside.

A Personal Definition of Elegance

Across fine jewelry, interiors, and fashion, Fruzsina’s work is united by a consistent point of view. She believes that timeless elegance, taste, and quality need not be synonymous with extravagance.

The most memorable pieces are often those that reveal themselves slowly through the line of a shoulder, the hand of a fabric, an unexpected seam, or a proportion that feels exactly right.

Keehn Atelier is the culmination of that philosophy and of a career spent studying how beauty endures. It is clothing made with patience, shaped by history, and designed for women who value individuality over novelty.
